The Light Will Come Bursting In...

"Light shines in the darkness for the godly…"(Psalms 112:4a, NLT)

TODAY'S WORD from Joel and VictoriaEveryone goes through times in life that seem dark or heavy. You may be going through something right now, and you don’t see how it could ever work out. You don’t have the funds.

The problems look insurmountable. But if you will stay breakthrough–minded and focused on what God can do, His Word promises that the light will come bursting in. Notice, it’s not going to trickle in. It’s not going to barely get there. No, like a flood, like the breaking forth of waters, it will come bursting in. That means, suddenly, things will change in your favor.

When things seem dark, don't start complaining. Don't get negative and sour. Remember, God likes to do things suddenly. Keep reminding yourself that the light is about to come bursting in! It may be today, may be tomorrow, next week, next month, next year. But know this: your breakthrough is on the way!

A PRAYER FOR TODAYFather in heaven, I choose to focus on You. I know that as I keep my heart and mind fixed on You that Your light will drive out every bit of darkness in my way. Thank You for directing my steps and keeping me close to You. I love You so much! In Jesus' Name. Amen.

It's Time to Grow Up!

Philippians 3:12-14

"Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I d Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus" (NIV). Friend To Friend I have recently begun working out with weights. Since I am a novice in this area of fitness, I asked my son, Jered, to help me get started. A rugged football player as well as a carpenter who is well acquainted with the fundamentals of weight training, he graciously volunteered to be my personal trainer. Little did he know the challenge that lay before him.

When I first started a regular exercise program, I naturally experienced some soreness. I was just not prepared for every muscle in my entire body to scream out in painful protest! Honestly, my initial reaction was to stop. I wanted to do what was easy, comfortable and painless but still attain the toned body of a professional weight lifter. Right!

Jered had no mercy. He was absolutely committed to my physical success and long-term health. He drove me onward, constantly encouraging me to keep working those muscles even through the pain and discomfort. One glorious day, he pointed out that those once painful muscles were no longer sore and much stronger as well. He even suggested it was time to increase the weight I was lifting because that beginning workout had become too easy. I had indeed come a long way, baby!

I want to accomplish the same thing in my journey with God! I want to be spiritually fit and mature. When I was a child, I spoke, I thought and reasoned as a child, but as I grew, my thought life and heart desires naturally matured as well. Our thought processes illustrate themselves in our desires. A mature believer has mature desires. A "baby" believer naturally has childish desires. It is sad and unnatural for a longtime believer to have new believer traits, habits and desires. Proverbs 3:7 warns "You should not be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn your back on evil" (NLT).

When we come to the place where we are willing to give Him everything, a wonderful process begins. He trains our immature desires to line up with His perfect ones. When we begin to seek His will by laying our desires and plans at His feet - yielding to Him - He shapes our will until it becomes His will.

The Holy Spirit has been given to us as a Spiritual Trainer of sorts. He will lead us in the right spiritual exercises of life that will make us stronger and more mature. Many of those exercises involve the submission of our will and the yielding of our desires to God. As we allow the pain and stress of daily living to "stretch" us spiritually, we will grow and mature until one day we will realize that His desires and our desires are the same. Mature desires - Godly desires - desires that are in line with His will are the desires of a believer who is growing in Christ.

Psalm 37:4 "Delight yourself in the LORD and he will give you the desires of your heart" (NIV). "Delight" literally means to enjoy. We can come to God with an attitude of joy, knowing that He is a Father of love who wants what is best for His child. His plan is absolutely the best one we could possibly imagine or accept. We can delight in His love, trust in His goodness and enjoy a growing love relationship with Him. A heart fully and joyfully submitted to God will produce mature desires. High in the Alps is a monument raised in honor of a faithful guide who died while ascending a peak to rescue a stranded tourist. Inscribed on that memorial stone are the words, "He died climbing!" A maturing, growing Christian should evoke the same attitude and desire. The apostle Paul tells us that it is time to "put away" childish things. As our children grow older, we train them to pick up their toys, to put away things that are not needed, to obey house rules and to leave behind what is childish, straining toward what is ahead. Right now, you have the same choice to make. To "put away" indicates an understanding of what needs to be left behind but also a willingness and commitment to do so. The question is, are you ready to grow up in Christ?

Let's Pray Lord, I am so tired of being a "baby" Christian. I want to honor and please You with my life, my attitudes and my habits. Please reveal every childish way in me and then help me to do something about it! Please give me a hunger, thirst for Your word, and teach me how to apply it. I really do want to grow up in You! In Jesus' name, Amen.

Identify and make a list of the childish areas in your life. Surrender this list to God in prayer. Taking one area at a time, ask Him to help you "grow up." Ask yourself the following questions: Do I truly understand that God wants me to "grow up" in Him? Am I willing to give the Holy Spirit free reign in my life? Am I willing to seek Him daily through His Word and through prayer? How can my desires become His desires? Read Ephesians 4:11-19. As you read this passage of scripture, think about the benefits of maturing and growing in Christ.

I can be such a spiritual baby. I am battling attitudes and habits today that I battled years ago. Even as I wrote this devotional, God said to me, "Mary, it is time for you to grow up in these areas." Therefore, I wrote every word you just read to me as well. My prayer is that we grow in Him ... together! You can read Mary's complete journey from darkness to light in her book, Hope in the Midst of Depression. Strenght Through Weakness

2 Corinthians 12:7-11

Our culture values independence and personal ability but sees weakness as a failure. The biblical viewpoint, however, is the exact opposite: Scripture teaches that when we recognize our lack of strength, we become more keenly aware of our need for God.

As we know, everyone has shortcomings, and the apostle Paul was no exception. In today's passage, we read his acknowledgement of the "thorn" that was constantly harassing him. The Bible does not tell us whether this was a physical problem, a struggle with temptation, or some other weakness; all we know is that Paul prayed fervently for its removal. But the Lord chose to let the irritant remain.

Amazingly, the apostle responded with contentment concerning the very difficulty he had begged God to remove (v. 10). He realized that the Lord had changed a hindrance into a glorious revelation: Paul's deficiency became the pathway and showcase for God's magnificent power.

The thorn, it turns out, also had a second purpose--as an "immunization" to protect against pride.

The Holy Spirit impacted the world so greatly through Paul that he could easily have exalted himself. A lack of humility would have negatively impacted his ministry.

Would we prefer to have our "thorn" removed? Humanly speaking, of course we would! But we can trust that, regardless of our circumstances, our loving heavenly Father is working something beautiful into our lives. Our response to hardship and weakness should be, "Lord, what are You trying to teach me in this situation?"

Know What You Believe

1 Peter 3:13-16

Some people claim that it doesn't make a bit of difference what they believe. In fact, certain individuals go so far as to deny the existence of truth. Yet our belief system actually matters tremendously, because it is the foundation for our character, conduct, and decisions.

For instance, a person who concludes that there is no God and no eternity will live selfishly for the moment. On the other hand, someone who trusts in the Lord and His promise of heaven will have a completely different lifestyle and purpose. Obedience, faith, and responsibility will characterize him as he lives to please his heavenly Father.

Knowing what we believe is critical--first of all, because our salvation depends on it. In John 8: 24, Jesus made a powerful and unequivocal statement about this subject: "Unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." The Bible is very clear that all people have sinned and in their natural state are separated from God (Rom. 3:23). The punishment for sin is death, which is eternal separation from the Lord. But the Father, in His love and mercy, sent His own Son to die in our place. As a result, everyone who believes in Jesus is forgiven and receives His free gift of salvation.

Believers are to share the good news of salvation, but the world's hostility can make us afraid. Today's passage encourages us not to fear. Telling others about Jesus doesn't require lofty words or long quotations of memorized Scripture. Simply be ready with an answer if you're asked about "the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).

Your moment is now

From where you are, with what you have, live this moment fully. Wishing for things to be perfect, or worrying that things will get worse, will rob you of the great value that already is.

Live now, without holding back and without hesitation. Go ahead, do what you've been meaning to do, and discover new ways to bring great value to life.

The past is already decided and the future is not yet available. Now is when you can savor the boundless richness in which you are immersed.

All is well, all is now, and all is open for you to experience. Life's exquisite beauty is yours the instant you appreciate it.

See the beauty, the wonder, and the rightness in the way things are. Generously express your joy, and feel the great fortune of your existence.

Your moment is now. Live the profound treasure that is.

The Character of a Good Soldier

In 1 Timothy 6:12, Paul called on his disciple to "fight the good fight of faith." As was true then, believers today are in a three-front war against the flesh, the world system, and Satan. The apostle described a soldier's actions as a reminder to prepare for daily spiritual battle.

A good soldier is strong in Christ. Paul knew that the Lord had stood by his side and strengthened him during trials (2 Tim. 4:17). The Holy Spirit provides the courage and power to obey God's commands, so we can rely upon His might to carry us to victory against any enemy.

A good soldier shares. Paul was particularly interested in believers spreading their knowledge. Not only does the church possess the truth of the gospel; it has all the riches of God's Word. Many people have listened to years' worth of biblical teaching and experienced the Lord interceding in their lives. To keep those lessons to oneself can leave another soldier without necessary armor or ammunition.

A good soldier is willing to suffer. Hardship is part of combat and, therefore, part of the Christian experience. Believers will endure adversity and be asked to make sacrifices. It is little wonder, then, that Paul reminds Timothy to stand strong in the Lord and to uphold others.

A wise commanding officer gives his troops a war cry that encourages their hearts and emboldens their steps. Paul had one to "Remember Jesus Christ" (2 Tim. 2:8). Keep in mind that you serve an omnipotent Lord. He stands beside you, takes part in your suffering, and holds you securely through the most dreadful battles.

"And David Turned Away from Elib..."

I Samuel 17:30, AMP)
When David was a shepherd boy, his father asked him to take lunch to his brothers out on the battlefield. When he arrived, he heard Goliath taunting and challenging the people of God. David asked the men standing around, “What is the prize for defeating this giant?” They said, “The reward is one of the king’s daughters in marriage and no more taxes.” That got David’s attention. He knew this was a battle worth fighting.

When David’s older brother, Eliab, heard him talking about fighting the giant, he tried to embarrass him. In front of all those men Eliab said, “David, what are you doing out here? And what have you done with those few sheep our father left you with?” He tried to make him feel small. He was saying, “David, you’re not important. You’ll never do anything great.” But I love the way David responded. The Scripture says that David turned and walked away from Eliab. I believe one of the main reasons that David was a champion is because he knew which battles to fight. He knew to turn away from discouraging voices so he could focus his energy on the real battle.

Today, what are the discouraging voices coming against you? Choose to turn away from those distractions so you can turn toward the victory God has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, I humbly come to You today releasing all my cares and concerns and focusing on the plan You have for me. Help me to turn away from the discouraging voices so that I can walk in the victory You have for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Expect It!

What do you expect to gain from reading this message? What do you expect to accomplish today? What do you expect to get done in the next hour? How responsible do you expect your children to be? How courteous do you expect the ticket agent will be to you?

Your expectations largely define your outcomes. You rarely ever do much better than you expect to do, and you rarely ever do much worse. Most often, you get just about exactly what you expect.

Even when circumstances change, you adjust your actions so that your expectations continue to be met. Whatever you expect of yourself will happen, because you'll do anything necessary to make it happen.

Your mind is a powerful goal-seeking device. The more consistently you keep your mind on your positive expectations, the faster they will become a reality.

In your expectations there is great power. You can expect whatever you choose to expect. So expect the best. And that's what you'll get.

Holding on while things seems to be falling apart

I’ve been blogging about my recovery from my aneurysm and stroke. Most of it’s been a motivating and inspiring journey. I survived three surgeries, and woke up from a three and a half week coma. Many people come out to support me, and prayed for my speedy recovery. My family showered me with their love and support. The executive search firm I worked for has been most gracious and supportive. I will never forget the role they played in getting me to the hospital, and making sure I had the support of my friends and co workers until my family could get there to be with me. And, now I’m beginning to make plans to move on, and prepare for the rest of my life.

Medically, I feel fine. But, I’m overwhelmed by what to do next. I’ve gained a lot, in surviving the ordeal. I have my life to live, and therefore nothing is more valuable than that. Also, I believe as long as I am walking, talking, and thinking --I have some influence over the way my life turns out… However, I’m afraid I don’t have all the answers to fix things as I move forward. I’m not prepared to give up because I am a fighter, but it’s quite a fight that I’m in for.

I wasn’t aware of the fact that I had an aneurysm that could potentially rupture, or what the results of that condition could be. Therefore, I don’t know if the mess I’ve made of my life is a result of the attack on my brain form the ballooning of the artery prior to the rupture or not (or how long this condition was happening to me). It would explain how I allowed for some of the poor choices, I’ve made leading up to the hospital stay – and how I let things get so out of order in the first place. Its hard to know...

Now, that I’ve had the surgery, gone through the five months of therapy and seem to have fully recovered, my life is in total disarray and I’m wondering how it got this way, in the first place? I missed the deadline at work, to submit my application for medical insurance, and found out after the fact that I was not insured -- after being admitted to the hospital. (It took some time to determine that I didn’t have coverage so by the grace of God, I received the best possible care from Emory Hospital in the interim.) I've been able to purchase private insurance, to help pay for some of my continuing care, but its costly and doesn't cover everything.

God has been working in my favor all this time because I’m definitely being carried, still. The hope and optimism that I have is evident of that. Yet, that human component is full of fear and uncertainty about my future. I’m going to New York to stay with a friend, while I attempt to pick up the pieces of my life and I’ve secured a part time job at a real estate company -- showing apartments, and doing administrative work in the office while I network with old contacts about finding more permanent work. (I have lost my job at the executive search firm because of the circumstances, coupled by the economy and job market.) Therefore, I have to secure another job with medical benefits that will help me continue to pay for future doctor's visits.

I’ve applied for social security disability insurance, back in January. I’m still waiting for their decision, and I have to hold on until then. After, they make their decision, I’ll either be approved or I’ll have to appeal before a judge. Either way, I’m confident about the outcome. This is important because, I’ll have a better handle on my finances, and what kind of position I should be applying for going forward. I will be able to work, and still collect SSDI, but there will be stipulations (interms of how many hours I can work). Although, the unemployment rate is high everywhere, I think New York will afford me more opportunities.

So, off I go… I don’t know what’s in store for me there. But, I have my faith, hope and optimism, plus lots of contacts, along with my incredible, compelling survival story for a book. Please continue to pray for me. With God on my side, I'll be able to accomplish the impossible.

The Pathways of Faith

Isaiah 55:8-9
Looking at difficulties from a human perspective can make us panic. It may be ill health, a financial crisis, or a broken relationship that causes our hearts to tremble. But God calls us to view life with eyes of faith.

To live in this way means believing that through Christ, God will meet all of our needs--including love, security, and acceptance (Phil. 4:19). Divine love for us was demonstrated at the cross; there, Jesus died for our sins so we might be forgiven and reconciled to the Father. His affection for us is so deep that we can never reach the end of it (Jer. 31:3; Eph. 3:18).

Then, because of our position in God's family, we are eternally secure: all who believe in the Savior are adopted as children of the heavenly Father, with full rights and privileges of heirs (Rom. 8:17). And our adoption is permanent, since it is based on Jesus' atoning sacrifice (Heb. 7:27).

What's more, the presence of the indwelling Holy Spirit is evidence that the Father has accepted us. His Spirit acts as a seal and guarantee of our position in Christ (Eph 1:13). Even though earthly relationships may crumble, our union with the Lord is forever. He is able to keep every one of His promises--and He will never let you down.

When we are convinced that God will provide for us, our approach to life changes. Then, we live not by sight (which tells us to worry) but rather by faith in the One who saved us (2 Cor. 5:7). The pathway of trust in the Lord is available to all who have received Christ as Savior. Are you walking on it today?

Overcoming Anxiety

Isaiah 41:10-14
Fear is a powerful emotion. It shows up without warning, tends to dominate our thoughts, and does not depart quickly. But as Christians, we have an even more powerful weapon to stop anxiety from overcoming us--the Word of God.

When anxiety strikes, key truths can help us stand firm. First, remember that God is sovereign over all circumstances and people (1 Chron. 29:11). When He decides to act, no leader, army, or nation can stand against Him. We may not understand why certain things happen, but we can know for sure that our Lord is still in control.

Next, keep in mind the promise that He causes all things to work for the good of those who love Him (Rom. 8:28). Just as the Father orchestrated the events of Jesus' life, death, and resurrection to accomplish our salvation, He also works circumstances for our good and His glory. The disciples didn't comprehend what Jesus was telling them about the future; nor could they initially see how His dying was beneficial. But in the end, they understood that God had carried out His plan of redemption through the crucifixion and resurrection.

We may be in the midst of hard times and wondering where the good is. Do not lose hope. God is sovereign and true to every one of His promises (2 Cor. 1:20).

Verses that proclaim God's sovereignty can help us overcome fear (Ps. 22:27-28). Studying the lives of saints like Abraham, Joseph, and the apostle Paul will remind us that God is mighty and He can use difficulties to bring about gain. As we believe His Word, our anxiety will be replaced by His divine peace (Gal. 5:22).

My miracle continues to unfold

I have a story to tell, of prayer and healing from my aneurysm and stroke, to surviving three surgeries, and then waking up from a coma of three and a half weeks. This is a survival story of family and friendship, the power of the Lord and strong faith, integrity and determination.
I’m fighting to get my feet back on the ground, to fulfill my purpose, but not without obstacles to overcome. I have been given a mission to show to all who are witnessing this, His word is true and “all things are possible through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13 (King James Version) It’s now 4:34 a.m. and I’m being called to write this. I have been praying for an answer. The answer is already here.

I need to get from point A to point B. How do I get there? Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. I’m still waiting for an answer from social security letting me know if I’ll be awarded money or not, and if I’ll need to appeal. The denial rate is enormous, and therefore I more than likely will have to appeal. In the meantime, I don’t know that I’ll be able to keep collecting insurance from the Long Term Disability policy, because I’m healing so fast and so well.

I have lost my job through this experience. (Finding another job, is not going to be easy with the job market being the way it is, the unemployment rate being so high, and the fact that I had an aneurysm and a stroke means my earning potential has now been affected in the traditional sense.)

My company does not have the budget to keep my job for me until I recover (which was the original plan). Our initial game plan was going to be take the time I need to heal, and by the time the market is strong again, I’ll be well enough to return to work. As it turns out, it’s great that I’m getting better, but the market is not keeping up with my recovery. The money has run out. So, what do I do? My situation looks desperate, but I’m holding on to my faith, and therefore I will make it.

I want to write my story and get it published. But, I’ll need to hire a ghost writer, to get it ready to present to a publisher. I can do this but I need your support. Please be a part of my journey to accomplish this. This is an amazing opportunity to see my miracle continue to unfold.

Mark 4:35-41 (New International Version)
Jesus Calms the Storm

35That day when evening came, he said to his disciples, "Let us go over to the other side." 36Leaving the crowd behind, they took him along, just as he was, in the boat. There were also other boats with him. 37A furious squall came up, and the waves broke over the boat, so that it was nearly swamped. 38Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, "Teacher, don't you care if we drown?"
39He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, "Quiet! Be still!" Then the wind died down and it was completely calm.
40He said to his disciples, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?"
41They were terrified and asked each other, "Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey him!"

Success and Money

Luke 12:13-21
The belief that wealth equals success is a common misconception. True success means becoming who God wants you to be and doing the work He has prepared for you to accomplish. Jesus said the man in Luke 12 was a fool because he spent his life pursuing wealth but was not rich toward the Lord.

An idolatrous attitude about money is revealed by an insatiable desire for more.
Materialism affects rich and poor alike. So whenever financial concerns have top priority in our thoughts and begin to dictate goals and desires, we can know we've succumbed to the foolishness of greed. Worrying about finances is actually a warning sign of misplaced priorities and displays a lack of trust in God.

Money is a vital part of our lives, but it should never come to have a higher place than the Lord intends. Everything belongs to God. We are merely stewards of all that He entrusts to us, and one day we'll give an account to Him of how we have used what He gave us to oversee. Our goal is not to become wealthy but to be found faithful.

In His great wisdom, the Lord has prescribed a remedy for our tendency to overvalue money. Giving it away breaks the grip of greed, teaches us to trust and obey God, and is the avenue through which treasure can be stored in heaven.

If you hunger more for worldly riches than for the treasures of knowing God, then you're climbing the wrong ladder of success. Genuine eternal blessing is measured in relationship with Jesus, not monetary accumulation. Make Christ your top priority and chief joy, and you will experience true prosperity.

Be Determined

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
“[We pray] that you may be invigorated and strengthened with all power according to the might of His glory, [to exercise] every kind of endurance and patience (perseverance and forbearance) with joy,"(Colossians 1:11, AMP).

Do you know what causes God to act on your behalf? Do you know what gets His attention? God is not moved by our needs. He’s not moved by whining or complaining. He’s not moved by a “poor me” mentality.

No, God is moved by our faith in Him. We have to be determined to stand on God’s Word no matter what is going on around us. Remember, God promises in His Word that He will fight our battles, but understand that it’s not going to happen automatically. We have to do our part. We have to dig our heels in with an attitude of faith and exercise endurance, patience, and perseverance. We have to be determined to stand strong in faith and face those challenges that come against us.

Just like the scripture says, I pray that today you are strengthened with His power to exercise endurance, perseverance, and patience so that you can stand strong and be determined to take hold of every promise He has in store for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY

Father in heaven, thank You for giving me a measure of faith that grows as I receive Your Word. Today I declare that I am determined to put You first and stand on Your promises so that I can live the life of victory You have prepared for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen

The Holy Spirit--Giving New Life

Romans 6:3-11
"Lord, I have really messed up my life. I wish I could just start over." Have you ever felt this way? Maybe you are even wondering if life is worth living. Well, I have some bad news and some good news. First, you cannot change your past--it is firmly set in history. However, you can start over, no matter where you are right now.

The Holy Spirit specializes in giving new life. All who have believed in Christ and trusted in Him for salvation have His Spirit dwelling within them. New life begins immediately for all who choose to accept His offer of the forgiveness of their sins. There is no more condemnation, and they are set free to begin living for Christ.

How easy life would be if that were the only fresh start we'd ever need. But our old sinful tendencies--which the Bible calls "the flesh"--are not removed at salvation. Throughout life, there will be times when we will need to go back and make things right.

The Spirit is ever present, empowering us to say no to the flesh and yes to Christ. Stop and consider the strength of the One who lives within you. He has all the power of almighty God, who raised Jesus from the dead (Rom. 8:11). Is your situation more difficult than a resurrection?

By setting your mind on the things of the Spirit and living under His authority, you can put to death the sinful actions and habits that have made a mess of your life. The Lord wants to set you free from addicting pleasures and drives that lead only to pain and heartache. Begin today by letting the Holy Spirit lead you into new life.

A prayer for today

Dear Father, I confess that I have allowed fear and anxiety to fill my mind and heart. I want to trust You above all else. Please give me the faith to believe the promises in Your Word and the strength to take the first step of obedience. Help me remember that I am a sheep, totally dependent upon You, my Shepherd. Thank You for Your perfect provision for my life. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Secure Hope (Psalm 42)

Secure Hope Psalm 42 God wants us to be people with desires and expectations that are motivating and enriching. But the disappointment of unrealized hopes is inevitable while living in this fallen world. How are we to determine where to place our hope--and how to respond if it is not fulfilled?

Hope is secure when it is aligned with the Lord's desires, which are revealed in Scripture. However, many of our expectations are based on wishes or feelings. We long for job promotions, good health, or quick solutions to our problems. Though these are things we want, we have no absolute promise from the Lord that they're part of His will for us.

Disappointment with God can occur whenever our expectations do not coincide with His plan.
Even when hope is based on a scriptural promise, the Lord may not fulfill it in the way or the time that we expect. Although God appears inactive, He is moving beneath the surface, preparing us for the future.

The key to contentment and joy lies in placing all subjective hopes under the umbrella of our ultimate hope in the Lord. God is sovereign and good. He always wants what is best for us and never makes a mistake. His ways are higher than ours and, in many ways, beyond human understanding.

From a limited and fallen perspective, we may be like a five-year-old who wants candy at every meal. Sometimes God has to dash our hopes in order to give us what He knows is best. Ask Him to clarify and direct your desires to coincide with His way. Then rest in His goodness and keep your hope in Him.

Make something meaningful...

The results you get don't come from the situation. The results you achieve are determined by what you choose to focus upon and what you choose to do.

From the very same set of circumstances, two different people can achieve two vastly different results. The outcome is not based on what they're given, but on what they do with it. If the results you're getting are not the results you desire, stop looking for someone or something to blame.

Start looking for the possibilities that you have not yet considered. Make your most positive and compelling purpose the filter through which you view everything that happens. That will cause outstanding, powerful possibilities to pop into view. The world around you is constantly changing.

There is always a way to harness the energy of the ever-changing landscape to suit your purpose. Look calmly and confidently at the situation in which you find yourself. Then step gratefully forward, and make something beautiful, valuable and meaningful out of it all.

You and God Are a Majority - Joel and Victoria

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"...If God be for us, who can be against us?"
(Romans 8:31, KJV)

So often when difficulties come, people tend to feel overwhelmed, unequipped, or outnumbered. They shrink back or look for an easy way out or a place to hide. But that’s not God´s best for us. He never intended for us to be consumed by our challenges; He intends for us to overcome our challenges!

If you´re facing a difficulty today, it´s time to dig your heels in, stand strong, and show the enemy what you´re made of! Remember, you aren´t alone in the fight; God is with you. He´s promised to never leave you nor forsake you. Just like the scripture says, if God is for you who can be against you? Friend, you and God are a majority. There´s no weapon, no enemy, no challenge, no disease, no failure, there´s nothing that can overtake you when God is on your side!

I encourage you today; choose an attitude of faith and victory. Keep declaring His promises over your life. Be bold and stand strong because God promises that He has victory in store for the upright. As you keep that attitude of faith, you´ll rise above those difficulties and walk in the freedom He´s prepared for you!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness to me. Thank You for equipping me and filling me with Your joy, strength, and boldness. I choose to trust You, to stand on Your Word and look for the victory You have in store for me. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.

The lessons I've learned...

I learned about the strength you can get from a close family life. I learned to keep going, even in bad times. I learned not to despair, even when my world was falling apart. I learned that there are no free lunches. And I learned the value of hard work.
(Lee Iacocca on Determination)

As I read this quote from Mr. Iacocca, I think wow! He’s been through a few things. Or else, how could he possibly know so much about what I’m feeling? And then, I wonder – Did he have an aneurysm too? Did he wake up from a coma, and have to face all his poor choices head on? Just like me? I am learning all the lessons Lee Iacocca learned this time around, and for this, I’m grateful.

My family
My brother and his wife have made such a sacrifice for me in my time of need. They are the most incredible people for the way they put my needs before their own. The two of them packed my things, put everything they could carry into storage as they tried to salvage what I owned. (I was in jeopardy of losing everything because I hadn’t paid my rent yet and hadn’t called my landlord to explain, since I was in the coma and couldn’t have. By the time my brother and his wife had gotten to my apartment, there was a notice on the door which was the notice of eviction).

I’ve enjoyed being single for many years, and may never have appreciated the value of a close family life had I not witnessed this for myself. Although, I appreciate marriage and children, I always felt I could wait a little longer for my Mr. Right. I am the middle child of eight brothers and sisters, and I’ve always taken pride in being there when members of my family needed me, but I still didn’t get it – maybe its because, I never foresaw me being the one in need. It took me needing them, to learn this lesson.

Its very clear to me, there is no way, I could have progressed the way I have without the support of my family. I’ve been living with them since being discharged from Emory and it hasn’t been easy for any of us and yet, they have stood by me. God has used my family to give me the strength to go on with my life.

Now that I’m so much better, He’s putting other family members in my life to show their support as well. All of my younger brothers have without hesitation offered to drive with me back to NY. This is significant, because I do have a large family, and I understand that people do what they can. While the part of the family that was able to make the sacrifice to take me in, did. I understand not everyone else could. The fact that my other brothers want to take this drive with me is huge, because it’s what they can do. And, it fills my heart with joy.

My sister, who lives in Pennsylvania, wasn’t able to come to Atlanta while I was in the coma – and it broke her heart, but as soon as she was able to come to Virginia to see me, she came.

These are all various components of Gods blessings, and the important part my family is playing in my journey. Who knows, it’s possible, I’m being used as a way to bring my family closer together. (It would be nice, but we’ll just have to see…)

Keep going, even in bad times
Since leaving Emory, I’ve been diligent about getting my life back through everything from therapy, to getting my driving privileges back (and all the other things in between, including school, doctor’s visits, exercise, social-networking online, dealing with my finances, lining up legal counsel in case I need to appeal social security’s decision, and getting my driving privileges back…).

I’ve applied for social security over six months ago, and still waiting for an answer (on average the percentage of people who get denied is as high as 65 –67%… In the meantime, my long term disability continues to threaten to cut me off. I don’t have the best insurance; therefore everything is magnified when dealing with the neurologists. This experience has made me a fighter more than ever before.

Don’t despair, even when my world was falling apart
God has fought for me to wake up from the coma, with my brain in tact - my speech, motor skills, creativity, and my sense of humor, ability to reason, solve problems, and dream…

There are no free lunches
Despite everything that’s happened, I can still go to work, and take care of myself. The job market may be tight, but I believe there’s a job out there for me still. I’m casting a wide net, and leaving no stone unturned… I’ll get back on my feet to pay my own way!

There is value in hard work
My speedy recovery is proof that my efforts have paid off. Although God is managing everything, and He deserves all the glory and praise, He helps those who help themselves. Seven months ago, I couldn’t stand, eat without a feeding tube, or breathe without a tracheotomy… The doctors at Emory, didn’t think I’d be able to care for myself, or live independently (much less, drive a car, strategize about how I’ll make a living going forward, or start a blog to share my testimony and inspire others).

Holding Onto Our Hope

1 Samuel 1:1-18
Hannah's situation looked hopeless. She was heartbroken because "the Lord had closed her womb." This alone was a source of great disgrace for a Hebrew woman. But Hannah suffered even more because of the deliberate provocation by her husband's other wife, who was blessed with children.
Holding onto hope can be difficult when circumstances are miserable and show no signs of improving. For believers, this can be even more discouraging, because they know that God could fulfill their hopes and remedy the situation, but He hasn't.

Hannah was a woman of great faith, even in the midst of her disappointment and pain. Year after year she kept going to Shiloh to worship the Lord. Perseverance is a quality that the Father highly values in His people. Endurance in trials leads to godly character and hope that does not disappoint (Rom. 5:3-5).
Great pain often drives us to the Lord. Hannah had faithfully worshiped God with all of Israel, but this time she went by herself to the tabernacle and prayed to the only One who could help her. Weeping bitterly, she poured out her soul before the Lord and offered Him a sacrifice of the very thing she valued most--a child: she laid her hope at His feet and promised that if He fulfilled her desire, she would give Him her son.

That which we strive to hold can be kept only by surrendering it to God. This biblical principle applies to our hopes as well as to our very life (Luke 9:24). Learn from Hannah's example of faith, and pour out your heart to God.

Lay your hopes before Him--the only One who can fulfill your desires or change them to match His will.

A special “thank you note” to the people at Accretive Solutions.

The world's a better place
Because of people like you
Who take the time to do nice things
The way that you do
Thank you so so much
__

Thank you much more
Than I can ever say
because you were thoughtful
in such a nice way!

(Poet Unknown)

I’ll never be able to adequately convey the gratitude I feel for the way each of you stuck by me during my time in the hospital, last October. I’m much better now, but still I’m overwhelmed by how close I came to losing by life or at least, my faculties. You visited me, you sat by me, you prayed for me, and you showered me with your love and friendship. I am able to walk without a walker now, I can cook, I can clean, I can drive, I can write, and I can read… I even sang a song the other day. I’m almost better in every way!

You gave me the motivation and the encouragement to hold on, to not give up, and to work diligently to get my old self back. I did it because I knew I had such great people in my corner routing for me. I knew I couldn't let you down. I thank you so much for being there. Believe it or not, I wanted to hurry up and get better so I could come back to work with all of you. I miss you terribly!

Well, because the market is the way it is right now, it doesn’t look like there is a budget for me to come back any time soon. Therefore, I’m making plans to move on. I’ll be going to stay with a friend in New York, while I try to put the pieces of my life back together. But, there is no way I could ever leave without saying good by. I promise to stay in touch, and to keep fighting to be the Camille I was before the aneurysm and stroke.

I started this blog to stay connected and to give you a way to know how I’m doing. I post to it almost daily. This way, you can say, “well she’s blogging, she must be okay…” By commenting, I can also know that you’re okay too.

I believe the market will pick up again, and we’ll all be fine. In the meantime, keep the faith, stay strong, and stay positive. We’ll see each other again soon. I promise.

Until then sincerely,

Camille

Experiencing God's Love - Charles Stanley's In Touch Ministries

Ephesians 3:14-19

Scripture says that God loves us, and the cross proves it. Sadly, though, this is an intellectual truth for many believers, rather than an experiential one. The problem is not with the Lord, but with the individual's capacity to sense His care.

One hindrance may be the tendency to measure divine love by life's circumstances. When the Lord allows tragedies and pain, some consider Him uncaring.

The age-old question then becomes very personal: "How could a loving God allow me or those I care about to suffer?" We'll never fully understand His ways, but we can know that His compassion and concern are bigger than the suffering of the whole world, and in the fullness of time, He'll make all things right.

A sense of personal unworthiness can also obstruct the acceptance of God's love. Focusing on past sins and moral failures or comparing yourself with others will lead to guilt and hopelessness. Satan specializes in promoting these self-condemning thoughts and feelings. The Lord never says, "Straighten up, and then I'll care about you." Remember that divine love is based on God's character, not on our performance.

The root of all the barriers to experiencing God's love is unbelief. When we deny His interest and concern for us, we doubt the truth of Scripture.
The Lord wants each of us to experience His great love in a personal, intimate way. Don't let the Enemy's lies or life's hardships steal the enjoyment and security of this great blessing. When doubts arise, rely on the truth of God's Word. He loves you. Believe it, and eventually you will feel it.

The blessings continue, as I'm able to move on

It’s been seven months since I had my aneurysm, and stroke. It was traumatic and life changing. I’ve lost my apartment, my possessions, my job, and the life style I was comfortable and familiar with – But, what I have is more valuable than any of these things. I have my life, my brain, my family, and my friends. And, therefore, I am blessed.

When I first woke up from my coma, I was told I’d have a job to come back to as soon as I was well enough to come back to work, but with the market the way it is, going back to the search firm in Atlanta may not be the best option.

My brother and his family have cared for me all this time. And, now I’m planning to move on. Its very much like I’m starting all over – like a person who has been born again. In fact, I’m going to stay with a friend who has a house in New York, and who is kind enough to welcome me in, offering a place to stay while I pound the pavement, looking for a new job. It’s a tough market out there, but I have my faith, a good skill set, and lots of contacts… And therefore, I’m confident, there’s a job out there with my name on it. I also feel strongly that I’ll have a better opportunity finding work there than any place else. The job market is depressed throughout the country, but based on my research it seems there’s more going on there, than in other places. Plus, I have lots of relationships there.

I feel good about staying with my friend. We’ve been friends for many years, and she has 11 rooms in her house and lives alone. She can use the company, and so can I. We’ll be like the Golden Girls, only younger and better looking… (smile). I’m excited about this. And, I know that I am truly blessed!

This entire experience has presented an amazing opportunity for me. I obviously needed to take time out, look at things from a different vantage point, and reevaluate the path I’ll take moving forward. There is so much to consider as I do this. I plan to keep everything in mind, as I go forward. I’m very much aware of the huge blessing I’ve received that I’m alive, still. My goal is to celebrate my life, and to proceed with diligence, as well as a super positive outlook.
I haven’t made the best choices in the past, but I won’t dwell on any of them. I have a future to look forward to, and I have my health, and thank God, the ability to reason, to strategize and to solve problems. I almost lost these things and therefore, I do not take any of them for granted. Lee Iacocca, learned these lessons about determination – “I learned about the strength you can get from a close family life. I learned to keep going, even in bad times. I learned not to despair, even when my world was falling apart. I learned that there are no free lunches. And I learned the value of hard work.”

I’ve also learned the same lessons as I journey through my brain attack, rehabilitation and recovery. I am an admirer of Lee Iacocca and I greatly respect his insights and accomplishments. I will take his lessons with me as I go on, and incorporate them into my value system as I move forward.
This is a most exciting time for me. I hope to see you again as I’m doing my thing in the big city!

Through Faith and Patience

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"...imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises"
(Hebrews 6:12, NKJ).

Did you know that in the Bible, David was 17 years old when he was anointed to be king, but yet he did not take the throne until he was 30? I’m sure during those 13 years there were plenty of times that David was tempted to think it wasn’t going to happen. I’m sure he was tempted to get frustrated or even feel like a failure, thinking “God, did I hear You? I thought You said You were going to do something great with my life, but nothing is going my way.” Here he was being faithful, but all those years he saw no sign of the promise coming to pass.

I’m sure David had to fight the same negative thoughts that we do; thoughts that were telling him “It’s not going to happen. David, you didn’t hear from God. Just accept it.” The battle was taking place in his mind just like our battles take place in our minds. During those times when it seems like you aren’t getting any closer to seeing your dream come to pass, remember, the scripture tells us that through faith and patience we inherit the promises of God.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, I humbly come to You, believing that You are working behind the scenes on my behalf. I trust that Your Word is true and believe that through faith and patience, I will see Your promises come to pass in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

“Happy Birthday” to my brother, Troy and to my BFF, Deb!

My wish for you today, is that you each go out, and do something special that will make this a day you won’t foreget. Be sure to be with the people you love. I wish

I could be there in person to give you a kiss and a hug or to make you one of my “award winning” cakes.

But, I wanted to be a part of your special day today, and to give you something that will last forever. I hope you will enjoy this list of birthday quotes from famous people that I have compiled for you. I didn’t want to just say, “Happy Birthday.” They can say it a lot better than I can!

Lee Iacocca was instrumental in the success of two automobile giants: Ford and Chrysler. With no formal education, Iacocca achieved professional excellence simply through intelligence, conviction, and perseverance. Ford owes its success to Iacocca’s insight and intrepid decisions. Chrysler Corporation also benefited tremendously from Iacocca's able direction and leadership. Lee Iacocca's quotes inspire many aspiring leaders and business students.

Perseverance
Boys, there ain't no free lunches in this country. And don't go spending your whole life commiserating that you got the raw deals. You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it bad enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

Integrity
I have found that being honest is the best technique I can use. Right up front, tell people what you're trying to accomplish and what you're willing to sacrifice to accomplish it.

Determination
I learned about the strength you can get from a close family life. I learned to keep going, even in bad times. I learned not to despair, even when my world was falling apart. I learned that there are no free lunches. And I learned the value of hard work.

Effort
Apply yourself. Get all the education you can, but then, by God, do something. Don't just stand there, make it happen.

Action
If I had to sum up in a word what makes a good manager, It's decisiveness. You can use the fanciest computers to gather the numbers, but in the end you have to set a timetable and act.

Time
If you want to make good use of your time, you've got to know what's most important and then give it all you've got.

Business
Management is nothing more than motivating other people.

Family
My father always used to say that when you die, if you've got five real friends, then you've had a great life.

Family
No matter what you've done for yourself or for humanity, if you can't look back on having given love and attention to your own family, what have you really accomplished?

Business
The ability to concentrate and to use time well is everything.

Business
You can have brilliant ideas, but if you can't get them across, your ideas won't get you anywhere.

Business
You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

The Restorer of Lost Hopes

Romans 5:1-5

Not only is Christ the source of genuine hope; He is also the restorer of lost hope. Unless we're vigilant in guarding our perspective, many situations can erode opti-mism and trust. Biblical principles are the best defense against such discouragement.

Unchanging difficult circumstances can cause despair and rob life of meaning, but Romans 5:1-5 tells us that God has a much different view about the value of trials. We are eager for our Father to just fix the problem or relieve the suffering, but He has an eternal goal in mind. His purpose in trials is to produce proven character in us, which will result in hope, not disappointment.

Personal failure is another thief of hope. Sometimes discouragement is caused by a failure to meet our own expectations. This may be evidence that we have trusted in our own abilities and plans rather than in the Lord. Remember that "our adequacy is from God" (2 Cor. 3:5).

At other times we might lose hope because, despite all our efforts, we cannot live a victorious Christian life. Old flesh patterns may seem to be winning the battle. But just as the failure originates within us, so does the solution--with the indwelling Holy Spirit. If we surrender to His authority and live in dependence upon Him, He will begin to transform us from the inside out.

Hopelessness is a miserable trap that blinds a believer from seeing the Lord. The only way out is to deliberately focus on Christ through praise, prayer, and Scripture. This is probably the last thing a discouraged person wants to do, but hope awaits those who are willing to see life from God's perspective.

Wisdom

"If I could have convinced more slaves that they were slaves, I could have freed thousands more."
--Harriet Tubman

"If you don't know where you are going, you might wind up someplace else."
--Yogi Berra

The two things you must know for every journey is where you are starting and where you are going. This seems obvious, yet it is something we often miss. Know who you are and where you are, then decide who you want to be and where you want to go. Once you do this, the path of your journey will make itself clear. Frustration comes when you try to see the path before knowing these things.
Know Yourself

Daily Motivation - Connect your goals to your actions

Every action you take today will either move you closer to your chosen goal or farther away from it. There's something you intend to achieve, and the way to achieve it is through action.

There is a very real connection between the things you do and the outcomes you experience. Keep that in mind as you go through the day. Keep that in mind as you decide how to spend your time. Keep that in mind as you control your own thoughts and actions.

Connect your goals to your actions and you will reach those goals. Focus on the outcome of what you're doing, moment by moment. You can choose to just get through the day, or you can decide to make it count and to move yourself forward.

There is a road that runs from where you are right now to the fulfillment of the goals you have chosen. As you go through this day, stay on that road. Keep the connection strong. Take the actions which will move you ahead.

The Source of Hope

1 Peter 1:3-9
Hope can be defined as the desire for something good and the expectation of receiving it. Jesus Christ is the only genuine source of hope, because He alone knows what is best and has the sovereignty and power to secure its fulfillment. All other hopes are grounded on the shifting sands of circumstances beyond our control.

Each of us has expectations for the future, but these often pertain only to this earthly life. Christ promises us the "living hope" of an imperishable inheritance in heaven. Everyday desires will all fade away, but our home in heaven is eternal. This is our ultimate security and anchor when the storms of life are severe.
But how do we endure times of trial right now? Heaven can seem so far away when pain is present and there's no relief in sight. Hope anticipates a change of circumstances for the better.

And what about times when our situation is not improving--then, what is God doing that is "better"? Peter tells us He is refining our faith, which will result in praise and glory when Jesus returns. This is more valuable to us than gold or even relief from our distress. What a paradox! The difficulties which cause us to lose hope are the tools the Lord uses to increase our faith and hope in Him.

Christ promises us hope not only for eternity, but also for this life. Those times that God does not deliver us from difficulty, we can be sure He is doing a greater work within us. When we finally reach our eternal home, we'll recognize the immeasurable value of the faith He produced in us as we kept our hope in Him.

I reconnect with Linda through Facebook

Hi Camille,

I am happy that we are once again connected. I am elated that you are recovering well. I knew about your illness and visited you at Emory while you were in a coma. In fact, the last time I came to see you, you were awake. I was sooooo happy to look into your eyes. God is so good and He is doing great things for all of us. I put your name on numerous prayer lists. So now I can update all of my friends who have been praying for you.

I am still unemployed. I have a phone interview on Wednesday for a position in Florida. I have also been approached for a postion in California. I don't want to leave Atlanta but I will if necessary.

My daughter graduated from NC A&T on May 9th with a degree in journalism. She too is unemployed and looking for something in the magazine field. I pray that something comes along for her. If not, I am trying to convince her to go to grad school.

Before you got sick, you asked me to tutor you in math. Did you still have that desire? Also, where are you living now? Someone from your office told me that you are in Virginia with your brother. I would love to see you.

Linda

Predicting the future

The most accurate way to predict the future is to get busy creating it. Though you cannot guess what's going to happen, you can know for sure what you intend to do.
Do you wish to be in the right place at the right time? Then commit to creating real value in every time and place where you find yourself.

The most reliable way to get in on a good thing is to put forth the effort that makes that good thing real. A surefire way to have good luck is to create your own luck through the actions you take.

It serves no purpose to wish for what you don't have. Use that energy to fulfill, express and expand upon all the great possibilities you do have.
The more generously you participate in life, the more it will go your way. Always see the positive possibilities in the way things are, and things will work to the benefit of you and those around you.

The future belongs to those who act with commitment, persistence and positive purpose in the present. Use this now moment to make your best predictions for the future come to life.

Will the Real Enemy Please Stand Up?

Today's Truth
1 Peter 5:8-9 "Control yourselves and be careful! The devil, your enemy, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat. Refuse to give in to him, by standing strong in your faith. You know that your Christian family all over the world is having the same kinds of suffering" (NCV).

Friend To Friend
Spiritual ignorance is not bliss -- it is dangerous. Many people say it doesn't really matter what you believe as long as you believe something! I totally disagree! The apostle Paul writes in 1 Thessalonians 5:21-22, "Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil" (NIV). To deal with sandpaper people, we must be able to discern between truth and lies.

If the enemy can dupe us into believing his lies, those difficult relationships will eventually damage and even destroy our emotional health, seeping into the broken places, ripping open almost healed wounds inflicted by sandpaper people. Complete honesty must steer every difficult relationship because sandpaper people must always be confronted with sound, solid truth in clear and transparent conversation as well as disciplined behavior. We are in a battle for godly relationships. In order to win that battle we must identify the real enemy.

Peter 5:8 "The devil, your enemy, goes around like a roaring lion looking for someone to eat" (NCV).

Sandpaper people are not the enemy. It is sometimes easier to convince ourselves that they are as it would make the attack plan so much simpler and free of guilt. We could simply do everything in our power to eliminate that person from our life when what God really wants is for us to embrace that sandpaper person, celebrating the truth that where they are is no surprise to God.

When our children were in middle school, several of their friends got laser guns for Christmas. One weekend, they brought the guns to our house for a "big, bad laser war." The kids divided into teams and the object of the game was simple, to wipe out the enemy. Wonderful! What clean, wholesome fun.

Hours went by to the sound of war hoops, shouts and threats and cries of victory. They had a great time playing with those guns -- that is, until it was dark. I stood in the kitchen preparing dinner when I heard the kitchen door open and close -- uh, rather slam -- and looked up to see my daughter, Danna, red-faced with fury. I knew it would not be long before I had every morbid detail of whatever injustice she had endured at the hand of "those boys." I was right. "Mom, I need to talk to you -- now!" I knew a command when I heard it, dropped my spatula and waited for the story. It was short and not so sweet. "Everybody is mad at me because I keep shooting my own team." So far, I was totally lost. I guess my confusion was evident because I could sense the exasperation that fueled her next words, "Mom! Are you listening?" I was -- it didn't help. With a sigh and in her most patronizing tone, she explained, "I keep shooting my own team because it is so dark. I can't tell who the enemy is."

We often have the same problem when it comes to dealing with sandpaper people. We identify them as the enemy but they are not the real enemy.
"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12 NIV).
Satan should never be the center of attention in any believer's life. We cannot focus on two things at once and if we focus on Satan, we cannot focus on God. However, Paul clearly warns us that no Christian should ever ignore Satan or take him for granted either because he is a powerful and vicious foe.
Satan is our true enemy and would love to encourage our attack on those people who rub us the wrong way and ignore the hand of God in the matter. Nothing and no one touches our life that does not pass through the Father's hand, with His permission. God, however, takes what the enemy meant for evil and uses it for good in our life --if we let Him.

Let's Pray
Father, I praise You for the truth that You have already conquered Satan. Please help me remember that while Satan is powerful, he is also defeated. Give me the discernment to recognize his evil tactics and plans to use difficult people in my life to help me fail and fall. I want to walk in the light of Your eternal victory over sin and live in the strength of Your power over the grave and the powers of the darkness. Teach me how to love the sinner but hate the sin. Keep me broken over my own sin and always be ready to offer the grace, mercy and forgiveness You have given
me.

In Jesus' name,
Amen.

Now It's Your Turn
Fighting the unknown is always more difficult than fighting the known. Getting along with people who rub us the wrong way is dependent on understanding that Satan is at work around us wielding weapons of strife, anger, frustration and misunderstanding. Victory is ours unless we hand it over to the enemy. Ignoring him is foolish but by identifying him and exposing his malignant tactics, we rob him of power and negate his ability to control and manipulate relationships.

Read the following verses and then fill in the blanks to identify the different characteristics of Satan's personality:

Satan is a ______________________.
John 8:44 "Satan is a liar and the father of lies."

Satan is a ______________________.
1 John 5:19 "We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the power and control of the evil one."

Satan is an _____________________.
2 Corinthians 11:14 "Satan changes himself to look like an angel of light."

Satan is a ______________________.
Revelation 20:10 "Then the Devil, who betrayed them, was thrown into the lake of fire."

Making Changes to Fulfill God's Plan

Matthew 16:24-27
As God's adopted children, we have been given a new purpose: glorifying Him through righteous living. Yesterday we saw that this means making certain modifications in our life. Let's consider two more changes that may be necessary for followers of Jesus.

One potential adjustment has to do with our belief system: a Christian's thinking ought to match Jesus'. The world's influence is strong, and if we listened to the culture, we'd push ahead of others, take all the credit for our accomplishments, and keep material possessions for our own use. But students of Scripture know that the last shall be first (Mark 9:35), God is the one who deserves our praise (Psalm 96:4), and Christians are to be generous people (1 Tim. 6:18). What we believe needs to match what the Bible says is true.

Lastly, we may have to redefine our commitments to be sure the Lord comes first. His desires for us should take precedence over what we want and what others ask us to do. We must evaluate our choices in light of God's plan for us. This may mean letting go of a favorite activity, taking on a new responsibility, or remaining where we are despite yearning to leave. Our Father wants and deserves His children's full devotion (Matt. 22:37).

These changes do not all happen instantly at salvation; rather, they take place over a lifetime. Whenever the Holy Spirit reveals a deeper truth or calls us to a new work, we will have additional "alterations" to make. But such changes are accompanied by the confidence of knowing that God will use us to fulfill His plan

Adjusting to the Lord's Plan

Matthew 4:18-22
I have been a Christian for many years, and not once has God asked me, "Charles, what do you want to do?" The Lord doesn't change His plans to suit my purposes or yours. Instead, He asks us to adjust our lives to align with His will.
One change He often requires has to do with lifestyle. Peter, Andrew, James, and John were fishermen before they became Jesus' disciples. Their lives revolved around the details of their occupation--weather conditions, equipment repair, catching fish, and turning a profit. But when Jesus called them to become fishers of men, they willingly and suddenly made a dramatic change.

In contrast, the rich young ruler walked away sad when he realized what he'd have to give up to follow Christ (Matt. 19:21-22). An invitation from the Lord usually means modifying our way of living. Whether this involves switching jobs or altering habits, God expects us to adapt to His plan.

At times the Lord may call for a shift in our relationships. Before being invited to travel in Jesus' company, James and John worked in the family business with their father. Saying yes to God meant seeing friends and relatives less frequently. Pursuing His plan may mean the same thing for us. But Christ promises a great return on any sacrifice we make (Matt. 19:29).

Our heavenly Father's plans are based upon His goodness, justice, and mercy. Because of His perfect character, we can trust the direction He gives us. Adjusting to God's design--accepting His will and making the needed changes in our circumstances and relationships--is always the wisest action we can take (Prov. 3:5-6).

Extra Column:
A hymn about following God's plan
Trust and Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt nor a fear, not a sigh nor a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief nor a loss, not a frown nor a cross,
But is blest if we trust and obey.
But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows and the joy He bestows
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet,
Or we'll walk by His side in the way;
What He says we will do, Where He sends we will go--
Never fear, only trust and obey.

(Refrain)
Trust and obey, for there's no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

The Stages of Our Christian Life

Philippians 1:5-7
Each Christian's journey is unique. Yet certain stages of growth should be common to all believers. For example:

• God wants to teach new followers basic principles as a foundation on which to build. He expresses these truths through other believers, His Word, and life circumstances.

• The Lord allows us to serve Him. We were created to do good works , and this becomes evident as growing Christians use their talents to glorify Jesus (Eph. 2:10).

• God lets us experience "frustrated inadequacy." Pride and self-confidence are threats to spiritual growth. Therefore, our Father brings us to the place where we realize we can achieve nothing of value without divine guidance and power.

• To make freedom a reality, the Father will bring His children face to face with whatever holds them captive. We often carry hurts, fears, or other "baggage" from childhood and on our own, have no idea how to gain victory. God allows us to struggle through such issues with His help. As we surrender the problem to Him and seek His perspective, He works to liberate us.

• The Lord teaches us how to live the "exchanged life" (Gal. 2:20). Our sinful nature has been crucified with Christ, and the Savior's life is expressed through us as we surrender to the Holy Spirit's influence.

Do you recognize these stages as you look back over your walk with Christ? Perhaps you can identify an area where God still needs to work in your life. Is there anything standing in the way of allowing Him to live fully through you? Surrender to the Holy Spirit, asking Him to help you become more like Jesus.

Good Days & Bad Days

“We love Him because He first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

Here’s some fantastic news for you today: God says to you, "I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore with loving kindness I have drawn you." (Jeremiah 31:3) But that’s not all; God loves you just as much on your bad days as He does on your good ones! His love for you isn’t measured by your actions, but by His nature! God’s acceptance of you is based on your position, not your condition, "for He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (II Corinthians 5:21)

I don’t know about you, but I’ve made quite a few mistakes, and still do. However, my "position" as a child of God covers my condition. Remember that it was at Calvary that God took every sin that would ever be committed and laid it upon His Son. Therefore, when you go to the cross as a sinner, He takes all of Christ’s righteousness and wraps you up in it. From that point on, your Heavenly Father can only see you one way, as His child, because of His Son’s willingness to die for you!

Forget about the achievement based value system of this world; it doesn’t apply to Christians. Because Jesus died for you, your worth isn’t based on what you do, but on Who you belong to – as a Christian, you belong to Jesus! God actually assigned enough value to you and me, to sacrifice "His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." (John3:16). Now don’t get it twisted in thinking that God doesn’t care about what you do; He does! Your loving Heavenly Father wants you to live right and do good works; however, He wants you to do them out of gratitude and love rather than as a useless and needless attempt to earn His love. As a matter of fact, you’ll never be good enough to earn His love.

Understanding your position through Jesus can get you off the performance/acceptance treadmill, and get you doing the right things for the right reasons. The plain truth is that, you’re going to have good days and bad days, but God loves you the same every day. That’s something to get excited about!

Inspiration - Leave the Way Open

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave the way open for [God's] wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is Mine, I will repay (requite), says the Lord"
(Romans 12:19, AMP).

We all go through situations where we’re not being treated fairly. Maybe somebody is talking behind your back or trying to make you look bad, maybe you were overlooked for a promotion or cheated in a business deal. When we’re being mistreated, the natural thing is to try to defend ourselves and set the record straight. Human nature wants to get even and get revenge. But the scripture says, “Vengeance is Mine… says the Lord.” That means God wants to make your wrongs right. He wants to pay you back for every unfair thing that has happened. He is a God of justice.

Notice what today’s scripture says: you can either avenge yourself or you can let God be your avenger, but you can’t have it both ways. If you take matters into your own hands, then God is going to step back and say, “Go ahead, do it your way. Looks like you don’t need My help.” But on the other hand, if we choose to stay on the high road and say, “No, I’m going to let God be my avenger and trust God to bring justice into my life”, then you are leaving the way open for God to move mightily on your behalf!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, I humbly come to You asking that You be my vindicator. I choose to release all those who have hurt me and every wrong done to me. Fill me with your peace and love. I trust that You are working on my behalf, and I look for Your goodness in my life. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Dr. Charles Stanley's In Touch Ministries -

Many modern-day inventions are designed to help us accomplish tasks more quickly. The microwave, for example, shortens cooking time drastically, while washing machines and computers speed up other chores. New technology has the added effect of increasing our already-fast pace as well as our desire for instant solutions.
Not every process, however, lends itself to acceleration. Consider our growth in Christ, which is known as sanctification. Being a Christian is neither an event nor a quick fix. Rather, it is a journey. There are things for us to learn along the way, and while we may unwisely choose a longer path than necessary, there really are no shortcuts.

Sadly, certain people grow little after salvation. Some are not encouraged in their faith or discipled well. Others fail to pursue maturity through prayer, meditation on Scripture, and fellowship within the body of believers. God is not pleased when His children opt for comfort and complacency. That's why His Word tells us to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" (2 Peter 3:17).
Consider how spiritual development benefits believers. By learning God's ways, we can walk in obedience and live content, purposeful lives for His glory. We also gain the ability to discern truth from distortion.

Do you notice any change in your life and character since the day you were saved? Can you detect spiritual growth over the last year? Your heavenly Father wants to mature you. So make a continuous effort to cooperate with Him by reading Scripture, praying, fellowshipping, and repenting of all known sin in your life.

A Special “thank you” to my brother, my sister in law, and their family…

Lamont, you came to my rescue and how could I ever thank you properly? I’m so much better now. I’m walking, talking, driving, blogging, and exercising… I’m thinking, reasoning, and planning for my future because of the love and support you have extended. And, now I’m moving on. You stepped in there when I was lying in a coma. You and your wife, Janez, stayed with me in the hospital, talked to the doctors, went to my apartment, packed everything and tried to salvage my life for me so I could have something when I woke up. I’m really glad you had faith that I would.

Well, I did wake up! And, now that I’ve been given this second chance by the grace of God, I’m able to move on. But, not without acknowledging you before I go – You made a huge sacrifice for me, sharing your family, feeding me, providing for me as if I were your child when I couldn’t do for myself. I know it must have been hard on you, both financially and emotionally. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I know you’ll be rewarded for your kindness and your generosity.

Janez, you really stepped in there on my behalf! What a great wife and partner to my brother, you are!!! And, you are a sister in law that is “Beyond Category.” (As my old friend, Bruce Wright used to say…) I know that when you said “I do” to my brother, you didn’t foresee having to care for his sister as part of the deal too. Well, all I can say is I don’t take for granted anything that you have done, and I am forever in debt to you. (Yes, we will continue to have our different perspectives on one topic in particular, and I will continue to respectfully disagree.) But, having said that… I love you with all my heart. You are one special lady! My brother knows what a prize he has, and I know it too.
This experience has brought us closer together. I’m glad. You’ve been more than a sister in law to me, you’ve been a friend. Again, I thank you!

Malcolm, thank you so much for letting me use your room while you are in the Navy. I’m giving it back to you now. I love you and I’m very proud of the accomplishments you have made. Keep up the great job you’re doing.

Niayah and Sherdina, thank you both for sharing your parents and your space with me. And, I thank you for helping them take care of me. I’m glad I was here to see you get all dressed up for the big Ring Dance. You both looked beautiful! I especially enjoyed getting to know both of you. That part of my recovery process was a lot of fun. And, being here to see you both grow up to become young women has been very special. One bit of advice for you both – You are leaving the 11th grade, and going into your senior year next year. Take it seriously, and go out with a bang! Boys are great, I know. They’re crazy about you now, and they’ll be crazy about you later too. Right now, focus on your school work, what you plan to do with your lives in the future, and getting into a good school for college. Make that your priority, and I promise you – the rest of your lives will be exciting and sweeter than you can imagine.

With all my love, respect and appreciation,

Aunt Camille

How Long Will God Wait?

Nehemiah 9:29-31

Yesterday we saw that the Holy Spirit plays an essential role in salvation. Before a person can surrender to Jesus, he or she must be drawn by the Spirit (John 6:44). Often, God is at work in someone's life many years before that individual is saved.

Today's passage shows that God is longsuffering; He often waits an extended period of time for a person to come to faith. The Lord truly "is patient toward you, not wishing for any to perish but for all to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9). However, we must realize that God will at some point stop wooing an unbeliever and allow him to go his sinful way. For example, Pharaoh continually hardened his heart when Moses requested the Israelites' freedom (Ex. 8:15, 32; 9:34). But eventually, God hardened Pharaoh's heart (14:17), which means that He let the wicked ruler have his way.

We don't know when or why the Lord decides to stop working in a person's life. Sometimes, He's active to the very end--there are stories of people who receive the Savior on their deathbed. In such cases, the Holy Spirit was obviously at work in their final moments. But other people keep rejecting Christ or postpone thinking about salvation. Eventually, God may let them become desensitized so they see no need for Jesus. Continually rejecting the Lord is risky.

If you're not a believer but are nevertheless interested in spiritual things, your heart remains pliable, and the Lord is still at work in your life. Don't put off a decision about Jesus Christ. You don't know when God might stop drawing you to Himself. The wisest thing you can do is choose to follow Him today.

Hope Beyond All Reason

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping—believing that he would become the father of many nations…"
(Romans 4:18, NLT).

Are you facing a situation that seems hopeless? Maybe you have a promise from God that you haven’t seen come to pass yet. Perhaps it seems like it could have come to pass a few years ago, but now there’s no reason to hope any longer.

In the Bible, Abraham was in the same situation. He had a promise from God that He would be the father of many nations. The only problem was that both Abraham and His wife, Sarah, were well beyond child-bearing years. Abraham didn’t see any reason to hope. There was no way he could think of for God’s promise to come to pass. But I love what this scripture says—even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept on hoping. He chose to have an attitude of faith and expectancy, and God was faithful to Abraham and fulfilled His promise!

I encourage you today, when you are facing a situation that looks hopeless, put your hope in God! He will never forsake You; He is the one, true, faithful God! When you hope beyond reason, you will see His promises fulfilled in every area of your life! one, true, faithful God! When you hope beyond reason, you will see His promises fulfilled in every area of your life!

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, thank You for Your faithfulness in my life. I trust that Your promises are true. I choose to put my hope in You no matter what my circumstances may look like. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Choose to Rejoice

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"Rejoice in the Lord, you [consistently] righteous (upright and in right standing with God), and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness"
(Psalm 97:12, AMP).

All through the scripture we are told to rejoice in the Lord always. It’s interesting that the word “rejoice” doesn’t just mean to be vocal and to give God praise with our words. Rejoice also means “to brighten up,” “to spin around,” and “to leap for joy.” In other words, you rejoice with your actions. You rejoice with your countenance. Do you realize you can rejoice by simply putting a smile on your face?

When times are tough, when things aren’t going as planned, many people have a long, sour face. They’re down, discouraged, worried, and upset. But when you choose to rejoice, you smile and have a pleasant demeanor no matter what. And it’s not because you necessarily feel like it or because everything is perfect. You just simply smile by faith. You smile knowing that your expression is saying to God, “I trust You. I know you are working all things out for my good.”

Make the decision today and every day to rejoice in the Lord! Put a smile on your face and let the whole world know your hope is in the Lord.

A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, I choose to rejoice in You. I know that Your goodness goes way beyond my difficulty. I know that even when I don’t see a way, You are making a way for me. Fill me with Your supernatural peace and joy as I surrender every area of my life to You. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Daily Motivator - Seek challenge

Challenge is a requisite part of any achievement. The more effectively you can meet challenges, the more you'll be able to achieve. Not only does challenge pull you toward achievement, it also strengthens you so that you may successfully face the even greater challenges that lead to even higher accomplishments.

That's why it is so important to continually challenge yourself. There's no question that difficult challenges will come with each new thing you attempt. So it pays to be prepared.

Seek out small challenges, and by so doing you gain the ability to triumph in the face of even bigger ones. Growth comes at a price, and challenge is a major part of that price.

Get used to challenge. Get experienced with overcoming challenges. Challenge yourself, and you'll remain strong in the face of the challenges which the world will surely send your way. Embrace challenge, and it becomes an opportunity rather than an obstacle.

I am thankful, as I move forward in good health ...

Last week, I received a clean bill of health from my neurologist. She informed me that the results from my recent CAT scan were good. It showed a scar similar to a wound from a cut that had healed. She also had the results from a recent EEG I had taken. Those results were normal. In short, I can celebrate the fact that I have a true survival story. Like our Vice President, Joe Biden and like Quincy Jones, one of the most talented entertainers in the music industry who also recovered from an aneurysm – I can say too that I’ve fully recovered! Thank you, Lord Jesus and God, Jehovah. I praise your name with my testimony!

I ask you for your guidance as I move forward. Father, you have tested and challenged my faith, and through my experience just like the story of the three disciples in the boat, you have all ways been here with me. You’ve never left me. (Mark 4:35-41) You’ve placed people in my life that you have used to bless me I'm grateful and I praise you. Now, I have a responsibility to give back. It will be a long process, and I know I won’t be able to accomplish anything without you. As Proverbs tells me to trust in you with all my heart, and to lean not to my own understanding and then you will set my path straight, I embrace these words. You have a plan for me, and whatever it is I know you will make it apparent in due time. I don’t know what you have in store for me. But, I trust you – and, I want to stay close to you.

“Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And, lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil."

Crying Out to God - 1 Samuel 7:7-9

When we face a crisis, the Lord is willing and able to help. But before He will become involved and release His divine energy into our situation, He requires one thing: a righteous heart.

This, of course, is not an expectation that we live perfect lives, which our Father knows would be impossible. When a sinner turns to God for salvation, He cleanses the heart of iniquity and gives that person a new nature (2 Cor. 5:17). Yet even believers will follow old "flesh" patterns at times, so the Lord calls us to confess and repent when we miss the mark. Then He will "cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9). Thankfully, He hears us in our imperfection as long as we desire to walk in His way. The problem arises, however, when a Christian knowingly lives in sin and chooses not to turn from it--the Lord will not hear an unrepentant heart.

The heavenly Father also desires that His children cry out to Him (Ps. 34:15-17). During trials, we tend to pray this way, with increased focus, passion, and sincerity. Hannah is a good example. Heartbroken over her barrenness, she went to the temple and beseeched the Lord with such emotion that the priest thought she was drunk! God answered her plea and opened her womb (1 Sam. 1:1-20).

When a crisis comes, cry out to our almighty God, but be sure you do so with a righteous heart. Then He will hear and answer--either fulfilling your hoped-for request or providing a different solution. Because He is omniscient, loving, and sovereign, you can fully trust that His answer is in your best interest.

A special “thank you” to Bronwyn - A great friend ...

Sometimes we meet someone who comes into our lives for a time and a purpose. And, once they have accomplished that purpose in that time, they move on. But, what they leave behind is huge and will be remembered forever. Bronwyn, this is a note to acknowledge you and say, “thank you” for being there for me during and after I awoke up from the coma.

We met at Accretive Solutions, just before you left the company. I remember our first conversation in the community kitchen area. We bonded immediately, and it was apparent that a sisterhood was created at that time.

I want to take this opportunity to tell you how much I appreciate all the trips you made to the hospital to visit me, after working all day at your new job at the Southern Company. I know how hard you were working, yet you still made time to call me during the day, just to check up on me, and then after work, you would stop by bringing flowers, and sometimes ice cream. Thanks again, my friend. This was after I had awakened from the coma, but I also know you were there while I was in the coma, and in my sleep state. I’m told by my friend Deb how often you were there, and the way you stood by my side with her.

I will never be able to thank you appropriately for the friendship and support you showed me, but I’m using this blog as a vehicle to communicate with you. You were there, and so you know what a life changing event this has been for me. And, you were also there to witness the great work God has done on my behalf. He heard all your prayers, and he’s answered them. Yesterday, I met with the neurologist, who pretty much said, I’m fully recovered. She read the EEG results form a few weeks ago, which were normal and the CAT scan results which were good also. She said it showed a scar from the surgery (similar to what I would have from a cut that had
healed).

So, now as I move on to the next phase of my life, I get to say, “I too, like Joe Biden, and like Quincy Jones have fully recovered from an aneurysm.” I love you, my sister. Thank you for being there for me.

When Our Faith Is Challenged -- By Charles Stanley

Believers who faithfully share their testimony are sometimes challenged. I do not write this to frighten or silence you. In fact, I encourage you to welcome questions, confrontations, and even persecution. These tests grow your faith and make you a stronger advocate for the Lord.

During college, I took part in some lively discussions--you might call them arguments--with fellows from my dorm. Most of those young men were unbelievers who questioned everything I believed. They sometimes even laughed at me. But I took advantage of their attacks. Back in my room, I'd pray and search the Scriptures for the answers I did not have while we spoke. With each verbal skirmish, my faith flourished.

A person does not need lots of biblical knowledge to talk about Jesus. He simply has to share what God has done in his life. Consider the blind man healed by Jesus in John 9. When the Pharisees interrogated him about Christ healing his blindness, he countered with the simple truth: "Well, here is an amazing thing, that you do not know where He is from, and yet He opened my eyes . . . If this man were not from God, He could do nothing" (vv. 30, 33). The blind man did not know exactly who Jesus was either, but he was absolutely certain who had sent Him to earth!

Courageously share the truth that you know. If challenged, never be afraid to say, "I don't know how to answer this question, but I'm going to find out." Then get in the Word, get on your knees, or get with other believers so you will be more prepared "to give an account of the hope that is in you" (1 Peter 3:15).

Telling It Like It Is

People love inspiring stories. Biographies of the down-and-out who make great use of a second chance tend to top best-seller lists. But few people have a life of such drama--most of us are quite ordinary. Sadly, some believers think that being a "regular Joe" makes their testimony unexciting and therefore less valuable. Nothing could be farther from the truth. What the Lord hadone and is doing in one's life. It is a powerful tool for getting an unbeliever interested s done for any of us is just as extraordinary as what He did for the redeemed drug dealer, murderer, or prostitute.

A personal testimony is a way of expressing what God has in spiritual matters. No matter how commonplace our words may sound compared to someone else's, the Lord will see to it that they impact the hearers who need them.
Let me give you an example. Suppose a six-year-old girl named Tina receives salvation. When she is 18, she will be able to tell her friends of God's greatness. She can explain that He makes the gospel clear to a child and yet reveals something new to her every day. When Tina is 80, she will have a lifetime of service opportunities to relate. Her testimony may not be exciting according to the world's criteria, but it is spiritual gold.

You have no idea how far-reaching your "ordinary" testimony can be. God says that His words will not return to Him without completing the work He sent them to do (Isa. 55:11). When believers share their faith, they are carrying His gospel to a needy world. And the story of Jesus' saving grace is always inspiring.

Overcoming Difficult Times - TODAY'S WORD from Joel and Victoria

TODAY'S SCRIPTURE
"Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God"
(Psalm 42:5-6, NIV).

When times get tough, don’t be surprised if you feel a heaviness trying to overwhelm you. Don’t be surprised if you hear negative thoughts telling you, "It’s never going to work out. Things are never going to get better. It’s over. It’s done." When those thoughts come, remember, you have a choice–you don’t have to believe those lies. You don’t have to get on board with your emotions.

In the Bible, David encountered many difficult situations. That spirit of heaviness tried to steal his destiny. He got depressed and discouraged, but do you know what he did? He started talking to himself. He said, "Why are you cast down, oh my soul? Put your hope in the Lord." He was saying, "David, snap out of it! Why are you discouraged? Why have you lost your joy? God is still on the throne, and He still has good things in store." When that heaviness tries to come on you, do what David did. As you put your trust in the Lord and praise Him, He’ll give you His strength and empower you to overcome every obstacle you may face!

Father in heaven, thank You for the strength to overcome the difficult times. I choose to shake off the spirit of heaviness by praising and worshiping You. I bless You today and always. In Jesus´ Name. Amen.
